Building precervation in miniature format (2025)
The playhouse has a long history and the use has changed throughout time, from being a place where children should practice housekeeping for limiting familys to a house used for playing freely on playgrounds. When asked to plan a workshop with the theme of presernvation of houses for children, I started thinking of the different houses that are specifically built for children to use. This led to two workshops, one centered around dollhouses and this one focused on the playhouse.
During the summer of 2025, we placed a donated playhouse in the need of care outside Mölndals Stadsmuseum. A mailbox was put on the side with the invitation to leave comments of how one thinks the house should be taken care of and what the youngest visitors themselves wanted to do with the house.
From the collection of notes in the mailbox, it was apparent that painting the house should be prioritized.
The playhouse continues to be a place for play and reflection outside the museum.
